Lake Erie College's 11-month evening program is designed for the working professional and provides unparalleled training and preparation for the National Coalition of Certification Center (NC3) certification exam. What is an HVACR Certification Program?
The HVACR certification and training program at Lake Erie College is focused on preparation for technician-level certification from the National Coalition of Certification Center (NC3).
Our state-of-the-art labs afford students the opportunity to train on the newest and most advanced HVACR systems and to apply both practical and classroom concepts on real-world systems. Students also take their newly honed skills from the lab and apply them in real-time, working on the 160-year-old systems across the LEC campus.

Lake Shore Compact
As part of the Lake Shore Compact, our program works with area high schools, supporting workforce development and technical training. This initiative includes Mentor, Willoughby and Willowick.
Harvey High School
Supporting Harvey High School's skilled trade program, the HVACR program and lab are utilized during the school day to train Harvey High students on the basic HVAC curriculum.

Convenient Classes
With convenient evening classes, the HVACR program can be completed in as little as one year with four unique course modules. Coursework will cover everything from electrical processes to refrigeration, air distribution, ventilation, and more, affording the student an innovative and sustainable perspective on installing, maintaining, and repairing vital quality-of-life systems as an HVACR technician.
Advanced Controls
Today, there are dedicated, advanced gateways that connect HVAC Systems with Home Automation and BMS (Building Management Systems) controllers for centralized control and monitoring. Learning the skills, install and manage advanced controls and complex HVAC systems is one of the most challenging elements of the LEC HVACR training program. Practitioners that have advanced the way solutions are capable of providing remote control operation of all HVAC indoor units over the internet incorporating a simple and friendly user interface.

Program Details
Certifications
The 576-hour program offers four modules with one course per semester. The modules prepare students for the following NC3 Certifications:
EPA License 608
EPA License 609
OSHA 30-Hour Safety Certificate
This certificate preparation program does not carry with it academic credit that applies to Lake Erie College degree programs. The program follows LEC's undergrad calendar regarding tuition refund schedule, etc.
Program Modules
Classes meet three times a week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Topics covered in the courses will prepare students to take the following licensure exams (administered by Lake Erie College with certificates issued by the EPA).
